Biography

Prof. Dr. Dilek İlhan Beyaztaş graduated from the Health Vocational High School, Department of Nursing, in 1995 and began her professional career as a nurse at a State Hospital in the same year. She worked for 14 years in clinical practice, gaining extensive experience in hospital-based healthcare services. During this period, she worked in pediatric ward, emergency department, and internal medicine units, where she also engaged in patient-centered health education activities. She particularly focused on preventable health problems and conducted individualized awareness and education interventions on public health issues. She completed her Associate Degree in Nursing at Anadolu University while continuing her professional career. This clinical experience provided a strong foundation for her later academic interests in behavioral change, health literacy, awareness, and learning processes.

While continuing her professional career, she graduated in 2006 from the Department of Primary Education at Atatürk University, Erzincan Faculty of Education, and completed her Master’s degree in Primary School Education in 2009 at the same institution. She subsequently began her academic career as a research assistant.

She pursued her doctoral studies at Hacettepe University in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. During her Ph.D., she spent six months as a visiting researcher at the University of Cumbria (United Kingdom). In 2014, she obtained her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a dissertation focusing on learning approaches of high-achieving students.

Her research interests include curriculum development and evaluation, effective teaching and learning, educational games, learning approaches, gifted education, inclusive education, special education (mainstreaming/integration), and case-based curriculum design.

She is currently serving as a Professor on assignment, where she integrates her background in health and education through an interdisciplinary approach.
