BACKGROUND: The aim of this study was to analyze the incidence of incidental gallbladder cancer in cholecystectomy material and retrospective analysis of 3519 cholecystectomy cases in the pathology department in our hospital between 2001-2017 years. Incidental gallbladder cancer is defined as cancer of the gallbladder suspected for the first time during cholecystectomy or accidentally found on histological examination of gallbladder. Incidental gallbladder cancer occurs in 0.19-2.8% of patients after cholecystectomy in the literature.
