Özet

Bu çalışma, Rafı·¯? al-U?manı·¯ adlı eserin yazarı olan Emı·¯n ?urı·¯’nin hayatı ve eserleri hakkındadır. Rafı·¯? al-U?manı·¯, Türkçeden Arapçaya bir sözlüktür; 1894 yılında Beyrut’ta basılmıştır. Tarihî kayıtlarda iki Emı·¯n ?urı·¯ adına rastlanmaktadır; bunlardan biri bilim adamı, yazar, yayıncı; öbürü ise tabiptir. Bu çalışmada her iki kişinin aynı kişiler mi yoksa ayrı kişiler mi olduğu ele alınacak; Rafı·¯? al-U?manı·¯ adlı eserin müellifi olan Emı·¯n ?urı·¯’nin - adı geçen sözlüğünün arkasında liste hâlinde adları sayılan- eserlerinden bazıları kısaca tanıtılacaktır. Ulaşabildiğimiz kaynaklara ve iki şahsın eserlerine bakılırsa bunların ayrı kişiler oldukları kuvvetle muhtemeldir. Bu çalışmayla her iki kişinin de Lübnanlı tanınmış siyasetçi Faris ?urı·¯ (Efendi) [1877-1962] ile herhangi bir kan bağının bulunup bulunmadığı hususu da tartışmaya açılmış olacaktır.

Abstract

In this study, the biography of Amı·¯n Khoury, the piece named Rafı·¯? al-U?manı·¯’s writer, and his other pieces are discussed. Rafı·¯? al-U?manı·¯ is a Turkish-Arabic dictionary; It was published 1894 in Beyrut. In the history resources there are two Amı·¯n Khoury’s: one of them is a scholar, writer and a publisher while the other is a doctor of medicine. In this work we are going to clarify whether these two men are the same person or they are different people. And we will discover the piece Rafı·¯? al-U?manı·¯ and other pieces that its author has mantioned at the end of this dictionary as his other works and the informations in their concern will be shortly explained. In order to the sources that we where able to reach and the pieces the two men respectively wrote them most probably they are different people. With this study both of these men and the kind of their familial relationship in case it exist with the famous Lebanese politician Faris Khoury (Afandi) [1877-1962] also will be debated.
