Although the prevalence of H. pylori antigen is reported to be low in developed countries, it is reported to be quite high in developing countries. In this study, antigen positivity of stool samples taken from patients admitted to hospital with various complaints were evaluated retrospectively. Material and Methods: Fresh stool samples taken from patients admitted to Medical Faculty Hospital between 1 January 2013 and 31 December 2018 were examined by H. pylori antigen test. The test was carried out in accordance with the recommendations of the manufacturer. Results:: In this study, fecal samples of 4857 patients, 2811 female (57.9%) and 2046 male (42.1%), were retrospectively analyzed. A total of 523 (10,8%) samples were positive and 340 (12,1%) of them were female and 183 (8,9%) of them were male. When the patients evaluated according to age groups, the highest positive rate was found in the 50-59 age group. In addition, H. pylori's antigen positivity according to the clinics; 381 (12%) of the 3162 samples from the Gastroenterology Polyclinic, 65 (10,3%) of 629 samples from the Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition Clinic and 27 (8,9%) of the 303 samples from the Dermatology Clinic were found to be positive. Conclusion: Because of H. pylori causes gastric cancer and its prevalence is high in our country, it is important that clinicians to be more careful against H. pylori infections and develop treatment policies. This study was carried out to contribute to the literature on the detection of H. pylori antigen prevalence.
