One
of the most widely used methods in social sciences is factor analysis. Factor
analysis is one of the multivariate statistical techniques that turns a large
number of related variables into fewer factors which are meaningful and
independent of each other. Factor analysis is widely used especially after the
survey is conducted for research. In the literature, it was seen that the
factors which are formed after factor analysis were scored in different ways. It
was found out that factor scores were generally formed by summing the scores
given in the scales or by averaging the scores given. In factor analysis, which
questions the factors in “rotated component matrix” consist of are determined.
The weights of each question in the factors are also given here. It was aimed
to ascertain the differences in the results when the factor points are formed according
to these weights. In the study, it was observed that there were differences
between the factors created by the average and weighted average methods using
the Spector's scale that measures the Job Satisfaction Level. According to the
findings, it was conceived that weighted average method gave more accurate
results.
