Fantezi Edebiyat ve Hicvin Kesişim Noktası Olarak Terry Pratchett'ın Disk Dünya Romanları

Özet

Fantezi edebiyatı yakın zamana kadar edebiyat çalışmalarında hak ettiği değer görememiştir ancak bu türle ilgilenen okuyucuların sayısındaki hızlı artış nedeniyle büyük önem kazanmıştır. Eserleri hicivsel fantezi olarak kabul edilen Terry Pratchett, 21. yüzyılın en ünlü ve başarılı fantezi edebiyatı yazarları arasındadır. Kırk bir romanı kapsayan Disk Dünya Serisi, onu dünya çapında dikkat çeken bir edebi figür haline getirmiştir. Pratchett, gerçek dünyanın sosyal ve politik meseleleriyle ilgilenir ve romanlarında fantezi ve hiciv unsurlarını ustalıkla harmanlar. Bu makalenin amacı, Pratchett'ın, gerçek dünyanın sosyal ve siyasi konularını fantezi edebiyatı unsurlarını kullanarak kendi yarattığı Disk Dünya evreninde nasıl hicvettiğini incelemek ve Disk Dünya Serisi’ne ilişkin genel bir perspektif sunmaktır. Bu amaçla, Disk Dünya Serisi’nden seçilen romanlardan bahsedilecektir.

Fantasy literature has been ignored in literary studies until recently, but it has gained much importance thanks to the increase in the number of readers who are interested in this genre. Terry Pratchett, whose works are regarded as satirical fantasy, is among the most famous and successful fantasy literature writers of the 21st century. His Discworld series, which encompasses forty-one novels, made him an outstanding literary figure throughout the world. Pratchett deals with serious social and political issues of the real world and he skillfully blends elements of fantasy and satire in his novels. The aim of this paper is to scrutinize the way Pratchett satirizes the social and political topics of the real world in his Discworld universe by using the elements of fantasy and to provide a general perspective regarding the Discworld Series. To this end, selected novels from the Discworld series are to be referred.
