Özet

In Turkey the films, in the 1960s for the first time with the idea of “socialist realism, the films were made in which workers' living conditions both in and outside of the labour process were the subject. The cause of this “delay”was that the developing of social classes was unnoticed or the existence of social classes had not been accepted. At the same time, the effect of the censor on films cannot also be underestimated. On the other hand, in these years, the “visibility” was related to rising workers movements (strikes, acts, etc.). However, the movies on workers are not limited to the films on workers who declare that are “the class for themselves”or in which worker movements are only turned into screenplay. An example is the Stranger in the City directed by Halit Refiğ. So, the aim of the present study is to try to read the film of the Stranger in the City within the bounds of possibility of the social sciences.
