Özet

There are many different methods used to improve soils. Many of these methods cause some environmental problems, such as groundwater contamination etc. Microbially Induced Carbonate Precipitation (MICP) is more environmentally friendly and sustainable than other soil improvement methods, for this reason many researchers have been focused on this area. In this study, the effects of mold diameters on permeability and calcite percentages were investigated in the sandy soils improved with MICP. The soils were placed in the molds with a relative density of 55%. Afterward, the culture medium was injected into the ground by peristaltic pumps for 24 hours and the cementing solution for 96 hours. As a result of the analysis, average calcite percentages and permeability coefficients generally decreased as the mold diameters increased. The increase in mold diameter was positive on permeability and negative on calcite percentages. It has been evaluated that it may be important to consider the mold diameters in soil improvement applications with MICP.
