Abstract

Fantasy literature has been neglected in literary studies until recently and it was mostly studied under

the category of children’s literature. However, the rapid increase in the number of people who are

interested in fantasy literature sparked off literary studies regarding it. All literary works depend on

the writer’s imagination, while those of fantasy literature include more imaginary elements than all

other kinds. British writer Terry Pratchett (1948-2015) is one of the most widely read authors of

Britain. Fantasy literature covers political content and Twenty-first-century fantasy writer Pratchett’s

works avowedly engage with major social, political and religious issues. His works also portray the

power used by corrupt authorities. In this paper Pratchett’s satirical fantasy literature is to be dealt

with by referring some of his novels from Discworld series.
