Abstract:

This study is aimed at examine the antioxidant activities of stem and seed parts of Erzincan Cherry (Cerasus erzincanica; Ş.Yıldırımlı). For this purpose, the plants were collected in Doğanbeyli which is the village of Kemah, a town of Erzincan province, and they were dried and ethanol extractions were prepared. On prepared ethanol extraction total antioxidant activity was determined by ferroccyanate reduction method; Cu2+ and potassium ferric thiocyanate were determined by Cuprac method; was determined by reduction method capacity of Fe3+ ions; the activitiy of scavenging of 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl-hydrazyl (DPPH) was determined; the total amont of the compounds of phenolic and flavonoid was determined. It was observed that 30 µg/mL concentrated of ethanol extracts obtained from stem and seed parts of Erzincan Cherry (Cerasus erzincanica; Ş. Yıldırımlı) inhibited the lipid peroxidation of linoleic acid emulsion as 38, 4 % and 10, 2 % respectively. In the same concentration, butylated hydroxy toluen and trolox caused inhibitions of 72, 8 % and 25, 9 %, respectively. Stem parts of the plant in which it was detected that the content of total phenolic and flavonoid were much more than those in seed parts still displayed higher DPPH scavenging and metal reduction activity. Butylated hydroxy toluen(BHT), ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid(EDTA), ?-tocopherol and an analoge of its which is the solved in water, nomely Trolox were used as reference antioxidant compounds, while the antioxidant activity of stem and seed parts of Erzincan Cherry(Cerasus erzincanica; Ş.Yıldırımlı) plant whose ethanol extractions were taken out were being examined.
