Evaluation of lifelong learning tendencies, participation objectives and satisfaction of trainees attending courses organized in public education centers (Erzincan example)

Abstract:

The purpose of this research is to determine the lifelong learning tendencies, participation goals and satisfaction levels of the trainees attending the courses organized in public education centers. The population of the study is 672 trainees who attended social-cultural and vocational-technical courses opened in public education centers operating in Erzincan province in the 2018-2019 academic year. General scanning model was used in the research. A questionnaire form was used to obtain research data. "Personal Information Form", "Reasons for Attending Courses", "Trainee Satisfaction Questionnaire" and "Lifelong Learning Tendencies Scale" were used in the questionnaire form. The data obtained in our study were analyzed by entering the SPSS 20.0 statistics package program. Frequency and percentage, Chisquare analysis, mean, median, mode, skewness and kurtosis values, Independent Samples t-Test and ANOVA Test were used to evaluate the research data. As a result of the research, it was determined that there are reasons such as acquiring a profession, the idea of making changes in their daily lives, getting rid of the stress and distress experienced by participating in the courses, improving their personal characteristics, being appreciated by their surroundings, wanting to meet new people, desire to make changes in their daily life. It was determined that the trainees V were satisfied with the courses at the public education center due to the attitudes of the administrators, the competence of the teachers, the ability to understand the subjects described in the course, the courses that meet the expectations of themselves and the society, and contribute to their working life. In the study, it was also concluded that there was a significant relationship between the marital status of the trainees, their status of having children, their education status, their participation in a course previously opened by public education centers, the type of course they attended, their status of thinking of participating in another course on a different subject and their lifelong learning tendencies.
