Abstract:

When the existing literature is examined, it can be seen that many studies have been carried out to improve the mechanical properties of concrete by using waste or additive materials with different mechanical and physical properties in various proportions instead of the conventional aggregate used in concrete production. The aim of the study is to investigate the physical and mechanical properties of the specimens formed by using perlite aggregate instead of stone aggregate used in traditional concrete construction and exposed to fire tests. In this context, a total of 48 rectangular prism specimens with dimensions of 10×10×40 cm and 48 cubic specimens with dimensions of 15×15×15 cm, totaling 96 concrete specimens were produced. Concrete specimens were produced in two different grades of 25 and 40 MPa and exposed to 200ºC, 400ºC and 600ºC temperature values. In order to investigate the combustion resistance of the specimens exposed to the specified temperatures, their mechanical and physical properties were compared by destructive and non-destructive methods such as mass loss, ultrasound transmission rate, compressive strength, modulus of elasticity and simple bending test.
